The X30 has less range than the older X3, only 3-4 metres.
Check if you set the transmitter to CIR, not just infrared.
Also - some kit are more sensitive than others!

You can't, because the Axim PDAs do not offer "CIR".

The Axim X30 does have SLIGHTLY less range than the X3, but we're talking a few feet at most. I still support the X30 for IrDA and think it is a good option with little compromise.

What barend may have meant was to make sure you have the correct infrared transmitter output option set; IrDA or Griffin audio transmitter. HOWEVER, THIS IS MEANINGLESS FOR AXIMS! No Axim, I repeat, NO AXIM can use our audio transmitter module, so make sure you have the output set to IrDA... which you obviously do or you wouldn't be controlling the "mini hifi". ;)

Sorry, I stand corrected...
Still happy with my X3, switching on all my gear incl. the plasma in one push...followed by a feast of clicking...
Which shows that the powerful ir even has a decent angle!
