Does anybody know of any plans for someone to develop PDA Remote software that will use the pcf. file format the new generation of prontos utilise? It seems strange that a lot of development time is still invested in software that uses the old ccf. files.
I would like to see software that would allow me to take advantage of the colour capabilities of the PDA's screen rather than be confined to 256 colours.
p.s. US peeps please substitute colors for colours.

. NetRemote & PCF :
http://www.netremote.org/
"NetRemote 1.0 will use the ccf directly.
Post 1.0 will (at a minimum) be able to import ccf and pcf (the nextgen Pronto format) but will probably use a format that is better suited to the type of information NetRemote will be using.
Tonto will be the preferred tool for ccf development for NetRemote 1.0, and we're exploring the idea of coming up with a more consumer friendly way of assigning actions to buttons (rather than having to know the "special" IR codes)."

. Tonto & 32 bits images :
"Because NetRemote prefers the custom CCF format that cannot be designed in ProntoEdit or similar software, you must use Tonto to design your CCF files.

Benefits of Custom format:
Any resolution CCF
32 bit images (including alpha/semi transparency)
Text alignment (left/center/right)
Multiline button/frame names
System templates
Transparent frames/buttons
Blend of RC9200 hard keys"

Ok, so the "tonto ccf file" can be designed like a "pronto pcf file" Any idea if this advanced ccf file can be imported into pronto NG for use on a TSU7000? It does take "pronto ccf files"

And will this advanced ccf file work on the pda remote control software that is available?

I just checked out the website and have not thourghly searched it, but What I desparatly need is:

Anything that can communicate to an X10 RF Transceiver from my Pocket PC.

Explanantion, I am a lighting designer and all of my clients have the X10 RF Transceiver, I have fallen in love with the ccf file for PDAwin and the TSU6000. I am trying to commuicate with all of my clients devices from my pocket pc. This way, I can design the ccf files, demonstrate them, and of course, sell them.

As far as I know, nothing for the time being.

Pocket PCs use standard RF techno like Wi-Fi 802.11 or Bluetooth or IR.

And there are a lot of IR to X10 controllers :

Its a shame, I loaded it it, and it looks fantastic! For the technician, its perfect, with the ability to work an any of the touch screen remotes, without having proprietory software opened. I'm going to try the velcro IR to RF extender today, at least I found it local.

Net remote looks pretty good for the homeowner, but not for my application.

If you are hoping to control an X-10 transceiver with the extender you will be disappointed as X-10 uses 310MHz (in N. America) and most, if not all, RF extenders use 418MHz.

We have all this technology and nothing seems to work with each other. PDA's are limited by their IR, every possible RF device uses its own chanel, wi-fi's - well I have not researched them - seem to be proprietory

I have this damn smartphone: with only a sd card. Is the technology or magic device out there that will link a pocket pc to the x10 transciever?

Can firecracker be used in this config?

Is there an easy solution?

The only reason the pcf keeps coming up is that some of us cannot aford the $600 price tag of the remotes.

I love tonto for programing and that is obsolete, and you know electric dogs compact flash card has dissapeared off the market. I know the industry is reading these forums. Are they eliminating the competition?

Anyway I guess in order to sell my designs, I am going to have to have a sample of each product. Is there a tech tool belt that has room for Pronto, Magnavox, My PDA, X10's outdated pda, and Z-Wave. I am going to look like a remote contol gun-slinger!
