I use the 5555 constantly for testing Total Remote, so you can be sure it is well supported.

CAVEAT: some users cannot get the audio transmitter to work on the 55xx, and some have no problem. This issue has not been resolved.

On ALL iPaqs you will find the IrDA port to be far too weak for decent remote control use. I get about 10-15 feet with my 5555. This obviously does not take into account the special CIR port that is in addition to the standard IrDA port that is on the iPaq 22xx, 54xx, 39xx and others.

The only practical way of doing remote control on most iPaq is using the audio transmitter with Total Remote.

It is basically optional on the e3xx Toshibas. Your IrDa is quite powerful, like 20-30 feet. Your PDA does support the audio trnsmitter, but not every IR device likes it so try it out and see if it works for you.

Yes, and you will even be able to use landscape modes!

and how can i stop the tivo remote from sending
double signals.

Did you sample the TiVo remote yourself? If so, experiment with learning button presses that are longer than nomal or shorter than normal; one of those should eliminate the doubling effect. If this is from a preconfigured CCF (no learning on the PPC), then there is a different reason and we can discuss that.

i have tried both situations. i loades some ccf's with the tivo codes already entered, and i tried sampling them. i have a marantz rc2000 and was able to teach the remote not to double, but try as i may, i can't get the signals not to double, either using the preconfigured ccf or learning the signal. Thanks for the other information. Joe

Just wanted to update this message. i tried using total remote in using the internal program and was able to teach the numberswith no doubling. the trouble i have is in the CCF mode. i can not get the doubling to stop either in the sampling mode or importing ccf mode.

Jabone, are you in on the beta testing program? I thought we fixed this recently, but I don't think it was a public release. If you'd like to sign up for the beta testing, drop a note to trbeta_at_griffintechnology_dotcom.

Don,

I don't see how you could use the total remote and audio/ir-transmitter with the Ipaq 5550 !

On this model, the audio-jack is placed on the bottom end of the ipaq. Thus the audio/ir-module will be pointing away from the AV-equipment and towards your self !

Am I missing something here ?

Oh yes. You are missing the option to rotate the screen 180 degrees, so top becomes bottom and vice versa! Not only can you rotate the screen during learning, but you can use it normal that way as well. This was specifically implemented for the iPaqs with the audio port on the bottom, though it was just a good excuse to start supporting other orientations.

Don I sent an email to the trbeta email address but have not heard from them. I am really getting frustrate with the doubling of my codes sent, not just with tivo but my channel numbers on the tv. i used a pronto 2000 to test my ccf, and did not have the doubling issue. Please help. i love totalRemote but i need a trick to keep it from sending double or triple signals. I tried all the ways to enter the learned codes suggested above. I know the codes are ok because they work on the pronto. I really do not want to have to buy a color pronto. Also, i have heard nothing about buying the extender by itself. I paid 20. for the program itself and would be glad to pay the difference to get the extender. Thanks very much for your help. i have been working every day since my last post to get the codes to work. I also tried to convince my brother to use his pda and total remote. he does not work with computers and if he get total remote it will have to work. he will not want to play with it. i will do all his programming.
