I'm very happy with my new cheap Dell Axim X3- it is really powerful, I can now operate ALL my kit (included the very insensitive Plasma) from the other side of the room whilst doing some healthy exercises instead of inflicting a hernia on myself bending sideways over the coffee table...
Also, the ir angle is OK, you don't have to point exactly to the kit.
It comes with PPC 2003 and setting up PDAWIN is a breeze...suppose TR will work just as well.
However, both suffer from the volume repeat problem, but you can work around that by repetitive tapping.
Found no other faults on PDAWIN, will try TR this weekend.
Will always be nice to Don Stratton now, because it was HIS golden tip!
BTW, I will post my ccf shortly, made it with large squares so even my thick clumsy fingers can tap it...

Glad to hear you are happy with my recommendation! After spending more time with the Axim X3 than most Dell employees I feel pretty confident that the X3 is/was one of the best deals in PPCs.

Installed TR too (333 build) and it works just as good as PDAWIN, although you have to wait longer before retapping the volume (like tap...sigh...tap instead of tap!tap!tap! which is irritating enough if you own a receiver with a very "fine" volume control).
Wouldn't be surprised if the problem lurks from the dark secret place called "trailing edge".

What I do like in TR is the use of the hard buttons, however they don't match the 4 bottom pushbuttons on the Axim X3.
Anyone found out how to get that right?
