Hey all.

I'm considering using one of the SJ Clies for a remote utilizing ProntoLite.

Is anyone currently using one of these for a remote? I'm curious to know if the IR is powerful enough to use. I've heard that many Sony's are suitable for use as remote controls.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong ;-)

I think you'll find the range very poor. Get a T-series (e.g. T665C/675C) and then use my Perfect Remote software instead:

Some effort is required to obtain IR codes for your devices, but the results will be much better.

PERFECT looks like a great app! I wish you had some screenshots up. Does the Clie screen look similar to the Pronto when running PERFECT? I am familiar with ProntoEdit, but I had an older TSU1000 that didn't support color. Does version 4 of ProntoEdit support color screens?

Also, any tips on finding any T Series Clies? They seem to be rare, even on ebay.

Thanks for the info!

See my other reply regarding my SJ-33. ([Link: remotecentral.com])
The Internal IR is only good for about 4.5 ft but with a $15 IR Blaster from www.talestuff.com you can get all the range you likely to ever need. It appears to be compatible with any software. I haven't tried Perfect yet but I plan to do so tomorrow.

Hey, pcbbc... any chance you can make Perfect flip the screen display (if it doesn't already)?
Be Well,

DrNicket
