I think you may have to relearn the codes back into the buttons.

What is probably happening is any codes you learned previously have long repeats, they are not clean codes. Examine them in Tonto, and very easily you will see the repeat waveform. Either edit them manually, or re learn the codes, remembering to only use the quickest press of the original remote, consistant with producing a signal.

A good way to do this is to have the original pointing slightly towards the equipment while learning.

If that does not work, then it could be this RC5 code type problem found by Magnus earlier in the thread, or it could the same prob reported by other AXIM users.

but we do not have
any of these CF transmitters so until and unless
we go buy one and reverse-engineer the communication
hack that is used to flash the LED there won't
be much we can do.

I have both of them you could use if you wanted to add the support. The Ultramote seems to have great range and you don't really have to aim it as closely as you do with the TR transmitter. As far as the Laser I don't really know cause it didn't work with my Audiovox Maestro. As it stands now TR looks like it could do everything I need but the transmitter only works at about 10 feet.

I had that problem too. As mentioned, the trick is to just tap the remote button and not to hold it for .5 seconds as prompted on the screen. If you do that, everything will work great.

I'm running the demo version of Total Remote (build 2.1.333) and spent a Sunday afternoon messing around with it (with my Dell x3i). I have to say, I'm impressed. I've tried most of the PDA remote software I can find and Total Remote is hands-down the best I've seen. Before I spring for the registration key, I'd like to get one little thing fixed.

I can get my Sony TV and Sony DVD players to work just great (using self-created device profiles). My favorite chair is about 20 feet from both and they respond wonderfully. The problem I'm having is with my Scientific Atlanta cable remote (it's an Explorer 3100). I can't seem to get any of the commands to work. I get no errors during the learning process but the cable box completely ignores my commands. I've tried getting within a few inches but I don't think range is an issue.

Here's another bit of information: The cable remote is multi-function and is capable of controlling my TV. When I learn a Sony command using the cable remote (such as volume) it controls the TV just fine.

I'd appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. The cable remote is the one my wife hoards so it's the one I'm most interested in emulating. BTW, I've tried all the Scientific Atlanta profiles and none of them seem to work.

Thanks.

-Mike

I replied to the other thread, but long story short is I found nothing obviously wrong! Hit the other thread for details.

I have an HP iPAQ 2200 with ROM version 1.1 and TR 2.1.333 (demo version). I have not been able to get the internal native CIR to work at all. Pressing any IR button (CCF mode) results in about an 8 second delay and NO IR output. There is output from the IrDA in the CCF mode , although it is too weak to do anything. Nevo works okay with the CIR. Any ideas?

Is the ccf an old one from another program (a Pronto or PDAWin ccf file) or one you created and then learned the codes with Total Remote?

This is typical behavior if not the cir circuitry is adressed but the irda.
Suppose you made sure to set TR to use CIR ?
With CIR you should have 4m range.
Like the preceding post suggests try a new (blank) ccf file with just one learned code.
Good Luck

I can't get the CIR to work in TR's native mode, let alone the CCF mode.

Long time listener, first time caller.

dshmel, you're not the only one having trouble getting the CIR working in TR. I too have tried ccf mode and native and encountered the same problem.

Just wondering if any of the previous releases of TR worked on the iPaq 22xx series. Any takers?

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem with my Ipaq 2210 and Total Remote - with CFF I can't get CIR to work. I get a delay of 8 seconds too. Every thing works fine in Nevo. I have hoped that the new version of TR would resolve the problem - but it didn't. I have updated with latest software from hp.com.

This is a complete bummer. I was looking forward to retiring my TSU2000 and using my iPAQ. I like my NEO but I miss SuperNudelist. I am also not sure (since I can't get TR to send out the signals) if any of this will work with my Yamaha receiver. Anyone have experience using TR with a Yammy HTR recent vintage receiver?

I received my TR retail package with disk and transmitter. I am still disappointed with the bugs in the program, even using the transmitter dongle. Like another thread explains, TR is almost incompatible with Yamaha IR codes (won't control volume properly, sends our repeats, etc). I will decide in the next week or so whether or not to return the package. I will try some other options like installing the OLDER iPAQ ROM version, using my wife's 19xx iPAQ, etc. But unless TR is committed to complete compatibility with all IR frequencies and "formats", it is useless.

Two quick points:

Yes, the iPaq 22xx series CIR almost certainly got broken when we added support for the 54xx. Believe it or not, the CIR LED is handled totally differently on each iPaq (39xx, 22xx, 54xx). We started with support for the 22xx, but that didn't work on the 54xx. We fixed the 54xx, but seem to have broken the 22xx. Hell, I don't even have a 39xx to test with, so god help those users. It will be fixed with the next update.

Yes, TR appears to suck wind when it comes to Yamaha gear. O.K., I will break down and go to Circuit City and try to reproduce the problem. Maybe I can find some piece of Yamaha gear that gives me trouble for a fairly reasonable price (I can't exactly buy new gear every time there is a bug).
