Hi guys,
I have just about finished the new release of Total Remote, which I think I will bump to an overall version number of v2.1 to reflect the changes and improvements. This version features several interesting things:
IrDA learning has been made absolutely time-stable. There should NEVER be a problem with timing errors.
IR transmission has been made as absolutely time-stable as each transmitter option will allow. IrDA is DEAD solid, iPaq CIR appears solid, and the audio transmission is stable within the signal limits of the format.
All screen options supported by the new "PPC 2K3 SE", "Ozone" or whatever you want to call it, are fully implemented. In short, this means Total Remote can be used in landscape mode, but of course you need a landscape skin or CCF to make any real use of it.
CCFs can now go fullscreen, so you don't have to have the Windows menubar at the top of the screen anymore.
CCF support has improved in general. Some users complained about having to double-tap keys to send a command; fixed. Some users said learning in a CCF crashed Total Remote unless you used Silent Sampling; fixed. Some users provided homemade CCFs that contained animated buttons that would not display correctly; fixed. Thanks to the core changes to IR transmission and reception theses have made CCF mode work much better.
Lastly, we support the unreleased Intel "Bulverde" processor. This doesn't mean anything to anyone but one of my OEM partners, but it sure will in the very near future. FYI to all the other guys with PPC remote apps: your stuff broke on the new CPU. Have a nice day. :)
Yet to do: press-and-hold a key does NOT send repeats in CCF mode! Major annoyance, but unlikely to affect most people's macros. We'll get it in the next rev.
Possible bug: Learning multiple buttons in CCF mode may only save the LAST button sampled, even if you sampled 10 other buttons and even verified the commands worked by transmitting them. This may be a "YMMV" (Your Mileage May Vary) bug because I have yet to reproduce it. I have a beta tester that reported the problem doing some logging for me, and with luch we will either get the answers we need or verify it is just him. :)
That said, I could really use a couple more hardcore testers. Anyone who would like to have a pre-release beta copy E-mailed to them (approx. size 1MB) can drop me a line at
[email protected] and I can try to shoot it out to you. PLEASE note I am trying to reduce spam to this account, so I have obsfucated the real address. Remove all dashes, and convert TEE and AHR to the obvious letters they stand for (xxbeta@grif...). Friggin spammers make me do dances just to publically list my E-mail...
