Hi Don,

I've managed to get all of my devices working except
for my Toshiba 30HF84 TV (remote CT-90158). No
matter what I try, the sampling just won't work for me.

However, when I use the native mode for Toshiba
televisions included with TR it works perfectly.

Hmm. Would you be willing to send me your CCF, so I can analyze the Toshiba codes? Also, to clarify, are you saying that during sampling mode you are notified that it could not find a signal and aborted, or that any codes you learn simply do not control your TV? If the latter, then I would love to have your CCF.

My question is how do I get the IR codes imbeded
in the toshiba rcdev file into my CCF?

Hell of a good question. Thanks to the lack of desktop editor (ala Tonto/ProntoEdit) for Total Remote's RCDEV files and skins there is absolutely no practical way to extract IR codes from an RCDEV file. This is unfortunate, since the format for CCFs and RCDEVs are so similar you would likely be able to cut-and-paste the hex codes and it would work in a CCF (well, either direction really).

Someone left a message on one of these Total Remote threads offering to make a desktop editor, but I have not heard back from them yet. Anyone else who would like to step up to the challange will get my full support and cooperation, and all the Griffin swag they can handle! ;)

Hi Don,

Thanks for you reply....its a real shame that I can't just cut and paste the codes from the RCDEV files. Oh well. And yes the problem I'm having is the latter-- I sample the Toshiba codes in TR without a hitch, but they just won't control my TV whereas the embedded codes in native mode work perfectly.

I can't send you my entire CCF as its a monster (used bitmap covers for my 800+ DVDs and CDs) but I will strip out the irrelevant stuff and email you the codes as they are sampled so you can try and see what's going wrong.

Hi!

In CCF-mode, can I edit the top panel with "Home", "Device" and "Macros"? I also want to edit the bottom buttons...

I wan't to have full control over my whole layout. If this isn't possible, is there any other remote software that has this possibility?

Can you run the CCF-mode in Full Screen (Skip the clock etc at the top)?

I like the original mode in Total Remote, but it ta hard to edit those skins so thats no option.

I found that the NetRemote can run the ccf (converted to custom in Tonto) in fullscreen with no other top or bottom buttons. I also found out that Total Remote had support for full screen, but there is still the top and buttom buttons that I can't edit as I want, so if you know a way, please answer :)

As no one could answer my question ;) I have tested NetRemote for some more time, and there you can control everything; fullscreen, I can edit all buttons, you can use custom-ccf and you can put clock and e.g. working battery indicator in the ccf skin.

Maybe Total Remote is a great remote software, but NetRemote is now my favorite and you can edit everything!

Please let me know when Total Remote has some features that NetRemote don't have and I will give it a try (again).

Hello All,

I've been trying to do some research before I make a purchase. Does anyone know if the Total Remote transmitter will work with the IPAQ 4150/55? I've downloaded the the trial software and have not had any problems with the IRDA, but I have to sit in front of the TV and everything else and hold it backwards because the IRDA is on the bottom. I've heard that it doesn't but I've also heard that you can purchase an extender? Just want to make sure it'll work.

Thanks!

Ben

Is there a simple way to determine if the ear plug device is working properly?

Today, I just noticed that there is a selection in options to choose the Ear Plug device. I did not know that it had to be selected.

Thanks

Either it does not work at all (me) or only over a very limited range, as Don Stratton himself once pointed out.
Forget it.

I have yet to see that it works at all on my machine.

I have test every device against each component I have and nothing has worked even with the internal iR.

So, is there anything requried to activiate the remote installed on the Axim x50v?

OK, I got my first entry working. So I guess I am own my way..one thing that I noticed is that is seems that I have to point the device directly at the component. There is very little room for misdirection with my unit. Has this been a typical experience?

Thanks

Steve

I have now read this thread comprehensively. I am about to use TR on my x30 but their seams to be on thing that hasn’t accrued to anyone. My system is all set into a cupboard and as must of the PPC have Wi Fi is it possible to have a WiFi add on that can sit in my cupboard. There is a piece of software out there that can do something like this but it is not a general all round remote but it is fully bi-directional control for a SoundServer anyone has any ideas please contact me as i have given this extensive thought and pulled out a lot of hair. if anyone wants more details please email me

HELP!!! Can anyone tell me (Don?) if TRII will accept a 24bit .jpg graphic used in a CCF file? I know my PPC can display them and I know that Tonto lets me build a CCF file with them but TRII hangs on start up of the file containing the 24 bit jpg. Very frusterating as I really want to take advantage of my display and have great looking DVD covers for my library.

Any help at all would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Scotty

I see there was no response on the Axim X5 question so I will re-ask it.

Does the transmitter module increase the Axim X5 range past the 10' that is listed on the site or is that 10' limit with the transmitter?

Thanks.

Just got TR yesterday! (2.2.577 version)

In IRDA mode, it doesn't look like there is a skin for any kind of PVR (TIVO or Replay). These days it seems like those units are pretty much standard equipment, so am i just missing something?!

Also the Giffin Technologies page offers 2 skin styles to download. Does anyone know of any other source for more skins? (short of programming my own)? And might these include a PVR skin?

Thanks for any help...

Has anyone gotten the Total Remote working with a Viewsonic v37? The software works great in IrDA mode, but I can't get the Total Remote device working at all.

This thread looks a little neglected, as Total Remote is now up to v 2.2.577.
I just finished the 3-day free eval and am unfortunately not ready to buy, even though I find it generally better than anything else I have found to date. Of course, what I really want is a Pronto RU970, but I find it hard to justify. My old iPAQ 3900 was cheaper, and can do a lot more.
One of my pet peeves about TR2 evidently goes back to v2.1, to wit, I can't seem to get a continuously operable volume control in CCF mode. Instead I have to tap the VOL button for each db of sond level increase or decrease, which gets old fast.
The other critical problem is that I haven't gotten assignment of the Pronto MUTE, CH and VOL keys to the iPAQ's 5-way Navigator key to work. Without this, I feel better off with NEVO, despite it's inflexibility. Reading the posts in this thread gives me a feeble hope that these last two gotchas will get fixed before I give up and go buy a Pronto.
Regards,
rsbrux
