Of course the fact you can't use the volume repeat. But other than that has everyone put away their Pronto and used the Axim exclusivly. Also what's the difficulty of getting a CCF to work properly on a PDA using PDA win. Have you guys/gals had good results?
Feedback is needed for myself and others who come in to check out the info re: Axims as remotes.

Thank you.

I recently bought an Axim X3 instead of a Pronto (never owned a pronto - always thought they were too expensive).

I'm very pleased so far, my only niggling problems are:

- No way to hide devices/macros from the PDAWin device list (that I can work out)
- X3 has two extra small hard buttons on the very edge of the unit, so 1 of the pronto hard buttons isn't where you'd want it to be.
- One of my devices (scart switch) uses codes that the PDA can't seem to learn properly. Checking other CCFs shows that codes beginning 7000 should be used (instead of 0000 for a learned code), but these aren't compatible with PDAwin AFAIK.

In terms of getting a CCF to work, if you use any IR codes that use the Pronto Firmware database (UDB?) they won't work with PDAwin and you'll have to re-learn them using the PDA.

Overall I'm very happy with it and especially impressed that the built in (consumer) IR on the X3 works fine for me (I sit 15 feet from the equipment).

Oh, and if anyone has a solution to any of the problems I mentioned, let me know!

I could never get my TV to work properly but what was worse was the PDAWin help pesrson would never acknowledge my many e-mails to them. So... I never bought into it.

PDAwin has a lot of trouble dealing with dirty codes. This generates several problems with devices that require toggle codes.
I for one am not impressed.

Wait a few weeks for Netremote to support direct IR - that'll make your PDA a killer pronto replacement.

I have an X3 pencilled in my next buy, if ever my old IPAQ dies on me.

I use the hard buttons for Vol +/- and Prog +/-. This seems to give some limited repeat code functionality.

Yes there are problems with PDAWin, but for the money it's still pretty good.
