Searching the forums seemed to yield no concrete answer. Seems like a better way to go if you dont like/have an iPaq 2215?

Any particular reason why? Seems like the ideal little widget, considering the alternatives. (Repeater, weak iRDA, CF IR)

Indeed, it can't, because it doesn't address the audio channel like TR is supposed to do.
BTW- My 3950 generic irda is 3m max.
However, you CAN use one of those ugly extender cards.
Good Luck

If you don't like ugly extender cards, try this;

Translation the best i can:

Because my IR-Booster was always yet too large me, I incorporated simply an IR-LED in the IPaq. Another MOSFET and two resistances and an internal IR-amplifier is finished. The range approaches pass me to be sure not entirely at the external IR-Booster and/or the Pronto remote control, but around the 5m from. I determined the values for the control through attempts, therefore no guarantee for a function. For the IR-LED, I took a high performance-LED with up to 300 mW/sr. Herewith one must take however one with large splendor angle, is otherwise again goals angesagt. The IR-LED is incorporated over under the microphone. In addition the Mikro "Tieferzulegen" and a hole is to be bored into the housing. If one gets high-performance SMD IR-LED, one would be able to mount this also in the area of the visibility window of the IRDA-interface. In the H3800 models, specially the H3850 without Bluetooth, possibly yet place would be allowed to be next to the SD-slot, incorporated the new H3900 an IR-Booster probably already standard moderate. I only can estimate the current consumption at present. There over IR always only impulses with approximately 200 mA sent would be allowed to become the Betriebsdauer not noticeably decrease. Who permanently over IRDA synchronized and/or with mobile phone over IRDA in "contact" would be allowed to step this however notice because at the same time the IR-LED is always active. Type: with a correspondingly converted IRDA-module at the PC, clearly can be increased the range in the synchronization over IRDA.
