How do you get/learn separate IR codes from remotes who don't have a separate on and off button (which is most, I know)? I'd like to have separate on and off's so I can turn all my components on or off whenever I want w/ my Dell Axim X5 PDA. Thanks in advance...

Hi,
what you want are so called discreet codes.
This site is full of them. Go to the Pronto file section and look for discrete hex codes:

[Link: remotecentral.com]
choose your brand and model of device and you're ready to rock'n'roll

Tip1: If you didn't find exact match just try a similar model. The IR codes are often the same between differnt models (i.e. discrete Off on Sony DVD player NS-300(did I get the name right?)will probably be the same as the NS-400 etc)
Tip2: not all discretes are here. You can also search the Pronto complete ccf files ready for download.(see Component Configuration Files or Complete System Setup Files IN THE SAME LINK AS ABOVE)
Search your device model or similar. If you see a description of the file where it says "...bla,bla complete ccf with discretes..." BINGO
Tip3: There is a forum just for discretes (just because you have a PDA doesen't mean that the other forums can't help you)
[Link: remotecentral.com]
Try searching that forum for your specific model and you will probably find an old thread in the forum referring to it. If not start a new thread in the Discrete forum, say which codes you need and cry for heeeelp.
Good luck
Buxe
