I am using a remote control extender with my 3600 pocket pc.
This the product [Link: smarthome.com].
I have been using this product with great success for years with the Omniremote software and Palm pdas.
The thing I didn't like about using this ir extender with the PALM pdas is that you had to use velcro to attach the ir extender to the Palm.
This did not form the strongest connection.
What I am doing with my Pocket Pc is :
Place the 3600 in a cf sleeve(your would have to do this to use electric dog ir extender).
I then place the ir extender in the cf sleeve slot.
You have to fold up a small piece of paper and place it in the sleeve with the ir extender to make the ir extender fit snug into the sleeve.
It works great for me,and doesn't look all the bad with the same color remote contol extender and cf sleeve.
It is a big plus to have whole house control also.

Danimalistic,
Thanks for this post.
So the emitter is small enough that it fits into the CF slot?
Also, on the Axim, the CF slot is next to the actual built in IR emitter. Is it OK that it is not right in front of it?

Finally, I assuming that it repeats ANY IR signal right. In other words, If my Axim is emitting the signal, then this product should convert it to RF and back again to IR with no problem.

Please confirm as this sounds like the way for me to go.

P.S. This is a "REAL" company with "REAL" product, right?

Take a look at the product at [Link: smarthome.com].
The emitter HAS to be over the ir on the pda for it to work,so I don't think it would work with the Axim in the same way it works with my IPAQ 3600 using the cf sleeve to hold the transmitter.
You would have to go the velcro route to attach the transmitter to the Axim.
As I stated I have been using the product for a couple of years.
I got the link listed above from the pdawin site.

Yes this is correct.

This is the same solution that I used before EDV came out with an Axim-compatible version of their PDA-ir unit. Mine was actually manufactured by Terk, but it appears to be exactly the same extender. You can check out an old web page I threw up with some pics of it in use with the Axim: [Link: cba.ua.edu]

I have another question.

I plan to control all of my components, plus two light switches, roll-up drapery and screen black-outs.They are all in different locations in the room. How does this extenter send the signal to these different directions? Or does it once again need to be "right in front" of the components for it to work?

Thanks again

You would need a reciever in each room, and have it placed in line with the equipment you want to control.
Sounds like your best bet is to wait for the electric dog ir card.
