This is my first post so I'm sorry that it is a strange question.

Does anyone know how long it takes to ship the IR Extender from Electric Dog? In 5 days, it will be exactly a month since I ordered it and they will not return my e-mail.

Not a very professional company if you ask me.

Not sure this will help, but I also had a PDA-IR extender on order via CCNow. Electric Dog did return an email last week saying the IR Leds were just recieved. However, 4 days after that, CCNow cancelled the order without any explanation.
I recently sent an email to PDAWin asking if there were any other IR extenders that worked with their software. Nothing heard yet.
Good Luck.

i've been waiting several weeks, it's getting kinda frustrating as i have my axim with tv remote controller installed with all my custom ccf files and all i can do is look at it. that or get out of my chair and walk over to the equipment to use the axim to change channels. please keep this thread going as i think we are not the only ones waiting for the pda-ir. i wish there was another source for these cf ir extenders.

Wow, this is a bummer.
I ordered mine on June 26th.

From what I can guess, it must be a very small company making these. For their sake, I hope they get their act together or they will not survive (I am a small business owner so I can relate). If a competitor wants a piece of their action, it will be like stealing candy from a baby.

I've had a similar experience. I ordered on 2 Jul and have not gotten any response to emails at this time. My order is still showing as awaiting shipment, the same as the day I placed it. Hopefully they will fill the order yet.

I am in the same situation. I ordered my IR Extender July 1, and have not heard anything, 2 emails and a voice message.

This is really annoying.
They refuse to answer e-mail or telephone calls.

I hope future buyers will be fair warned!!

Heck, one of the reasons that I bought the PDA instead of a Pronto was because the IR extender was available. Now the PDA is just a paperweight.

I remember reading a post here a while back where someone complained about Electronic Dog for the same reasons and another forum member actually jumped in to defend Electronic Dog. What was that guy smokin?

While I agree that it is not "fair" for you guys to not get any answers from Electronic Dog Ventures (EDV) regarding your orders and/or the hold up, I still would vouch for the PDA-ir. You have to think about one thing....there is NO POSSIBLE WAY that a company could make a living just by selling this little PDA-ir unit. Dane Houston (owner of EDV) is a lawyer, and I'm sure he is just very consumed in his "real job" at the moment. Providing PDA-ir cards is just a side-job for him, and he is just doing it to benefit the PDA remote community. I want you all to honestly tell me that there have not been times in your careers (especially in the law field) that you have not been so consumed in your job (both locally and travelling) that you did not have any spare time to spend on your "hobbies"??

Again, I am not saying that it is "right" for EDV to not respond to e-mails, but they probably have not even been read yet.....even though it has been a long time since you sent them. I still appreciate that Dane and others associated with EDV provide the PDA community with such a great product....in their SPARE time. It would be great, in my opinion, if Dane could possibly sell the patent to a company that would be able to concentrate on the production/distribution of this product.....but that is a choice that he has to make on his own in the future.

The reason I am able to say all of this is because EDV does not charge your credit cards until the product has shipped. Therefore, there is never a guarantee that it will ship at a specified date up front. If your card was actually charged up front, then it would be a completely different story.

I have been trying this weekend to get in touch with someone regarding this issue. If I hear anything back, I will let everyone know ASAP.

Jordan,
Thank you for your post as it really has shed some light.
As for running a side business, I am also experienced here. I work a “regular” job and also have my own company, which sells erosion control fabrics. I simply purchase the fabric and ship it to my customers when an order is placed. One of the services that I provide is doing a site take-off and drawing the take-off on C.A.D. Some orders can take 40 hrs. worth of work to generate and my customers probably would not be interested if I explained to them that it is taking me a really long time because I have a “real” job too. Or worse, if I never responded to them at all. I’ll admit that I am usually relieved when I do not have orders coming through my fax machine or web page. If I ever get to the point where I could not even provide my customers with common courtesy (like returning messages), I would no doubt close-down my side business and stop soliciting sales.
If he truly is that busy, then he ought to have these things made for him rather than building them himself or shut down his business.
Again, it is frustrating, because the only reason I bought my Axim is to use it as a remote control. It is nothing but a paperweight to me now. I’ll probably sell it to my coworker and buy the Pronto.

Just a note that everyone's PDA-ir units appear to be shipping. I have spoken with about 6 different people, who have either received the unit, or at least received a notice saying that it is shipped. I did manage to speak with someone about the issue, and Dane had been out of town on business (his real profession) for quite a while. Hopefully everything should be back on track now.

Spyke, how did you get yours before I did. No fair!

Well I received mine today (41 days since I ordered it). That would be OK...
if it worked!!
I assume that you just pop it in and turn it on (it did not come with instructions). On mine the label is facing the rear of the PDA.

Well, it does NOTHING.

In PDAwin software, make sure to go to Options, Output, External IR CF transmitter. That'll get it working. :)
