I've been using an iPAQ 3955 running PDAWin's TV Remote Controller and overall I've been very pleased with the results. The only thing that is driving me crazy is the speed at which I can increase or decrease the volume on my Yamaha receiver. I learned the volume+ and volume- commands from the original remote and mapped these to hard button on the iPAQ and although the command repeats when I hold the button down, the volume change is significantly slower than when using the original remote. As an experment, I tried using the NEVO software that comes with the iPAQ and setting up the receiver as a predefined device and the volume control speed matches the original remote. Any suggestions on how I might modify the learned IR code to improve the speed or is this a problem with the TV Remote software?

Thanks for your help.

Try running that by the folks at PDAWin and see what they say if they ever respond to your request. Arnie...

I'm not sure if this will help, but here's the IR code for the learned volume+ command as displayed in ProntoEdit. Can this be edited to allow the command to repeat more quickly? I did notice that when I "learned" this command to another universal remote control, the volume changed very slowly but it worked like the original remote when I programmed the remote using the Yamaha receiver device code.

PDAWin does NOT reproduce the repeat codes correctly. I have told them that several times. They allways said, they where working on it, but since this has been going on for over a year now, I have given up hope.
Nevertheless I have "tuned" the binary code a little bit so it work slightly better.
Tell me which receiver you have and I will see, if it fits yours.

Well then try to copy theses codes into your setup. They are for an AX1 but I think they might work.

Remember, they are only a workarround. You will not get the same speed from them, because the hole sequence is repeated but it's a bit better.

Let me know if it helps

Wilhelm,

I ran into this issue, too. I've sent an email to the folks at pdawin. We'll see what comes of it. Meanwhile, your tuned codes work much faster. It's very usable. Thanks for posting them! Unfortunately, you've posted the volume up code twice. Could you perhaps post the volume down code too?

Thanks in advance,
Martin.

EDIT: I built one the same way you did. Here's the code, for anybody who wants it (for all: use at your own risk):

Anyone know how to do the same procedure for Denon's range of AV amps. I have the A1SR, but the A10SE uses the same IR codes.

Help!

I don't understand the bitterness towards the people at pdawin.
Do you not realize you are getting darn near the equal of a Pronto Pro for $15 because of their software.

Well, let me explain:
I bought this software over a year ago, and was told this issue was due to be fixed soon. Since then, they supported a lot more PDA's but they are not fixing the obvious flaws. This means they try to aquire new customers but are quite illoyal to their existing ones.
This is what makes me angry.

I'm surprised you don't understand this. No-one quarrels with the value of the PPC/PDAWin combination and the usefulness of PDAWin. In fact, because of that I suspect almost everyone would be willing to spend more than $15 if that is what it would take to get support and some sort of response.

What galls me and I suspect galls the others, is the fact that they are basically totally unresponsive, whether it be to questions, support issues, etc. It should be noted that they are NOT unresponsive when it comes to taking someone's money. The fact that it is only $15 is irrelevant; they set the price, we paid it, and expect some sort of ongoing support or at least some level of communication.

It's really not right to sell a piece of software that is as important to the use of the hardware as this is, and then ignore the customers....
