Anyone know anything about pocket pc 2003 and their corresponding pda's. will the IR extender work and what about the remote controller software? HP claims that their ipaq 2215 has a beefed up IR and it doesn't need an IR extender, is this plausible? Is there going to be some review of a unit with pocket pc 2003? would it be better to buy a pocket pc 2002 unit which should be going down in price or buy a new pocket pc unit (my main focus is remote usage). Thanks

It depends on when you want to get the PDA and how long you are willing to wait for the new technology, if it does what they say it will. Right now you can get an Axiom 400 for around $265, plus $15 for the PDAWin software and $30 for the IR extender that fits right into the Axioms built-in CF slot and your going full bore color remote that works well! I just pickedup an Ipaq 2215. Using the included Nevo software, I can control my Pioneer Elite VSX-21 Receiver, Sony KV-27S10 27" tv, Sony SLV-M20HF vhs vcr, and Pioneer DV-440 dvd player from over 25 feet away.

Btw, I do not need to point the ipaq directly at the devices... Just in the "general direction."

BUT the TV Remote Control program from padwin.com does not seem to work for me with either CCFs or in non-CCF mode. It does not work with the built in code selections or when I "learn" functins from the original remotes.
