Trying to run various CCFs through the emulator in ProntoEdit, I noticed that the area above the frame (including the home key etc) behaves differently on the Pronto than it does using PDAWin. Emulating a 6000/970 (and presumably on the real thing) the "macro tab" and the "device tab" move about, but on the IPAQ using PDAWin the tabs are static and there are up down arrows.

Is this just a basic difference between the two products or are there configuration options that I havn't spotted yet? I've checked the various manuals, but I can't see anything.

I believe this is partly pdawin's implementation of PE and partly the fact that the animation (movement of the tabs) is in the Pronto's firmware, and NOT a part of the ccf. On a Marantz, you can turn device and macro tabs off (on the remote, not in the software), but this is not available on the Pronto series, so there aren't any configuration options.

Yes, this is in the PDAwin software itself. Like bomberjim said, the tabs have nothing to do with ProntoEdit options.....just the way that the software is written. Still just as useable though, although the Pronto tabs are a little prettier.

Thanks for the input guys, pretty much as I expected

Do we (the forum) have a relationship with PDAWin that might give us an insight into the product roadmap. Or am I being over optimistic about a product that only cost $15 with no ongoing support revenue. I guess it must be a pretty small outfit, and they are only likely to spend time (and money) on changes that will bring them revenue. There is so much more that could be done........

They have always been a good company over the past year, constantly working on upgrades. I spoke with a representative at PDAwin about a month ago to see what some plans were for the future versions. They said the biggest would be to fix the button-press issue.

However, I have sent 2-3 e-mails since then and have yet to hear back. Maybe that means they are hard at work.....or maybe it means they are on vacation?? With smaller companies, you never know. :) But I'm sure they'll come back strong with the next release.

I look forward to the next release. In the meantime, I've got a lot of catching up to do with what the product already does.

By the way, looking back at my last post, I wouldn't like pepole to think I'm some sort of saddo, posting at 4am. I'm on UK time.
