Can PDA-win display a full touch screen like the Marantz 9200? Whenever I load a CCF that was made for the 9200 into PDA-win I just get the top status bar and remote icon of the Pronto? (Panel below is blank)

When I initially got my Axim I loaded PDA-win and it seemed to work flawlessly with Daniel Tonks CCF for the Pronto Pro. Kinda seems like a waste of space to have a good 25% doing nothing.

No one able to do this? PDAwin is nice as a pronto pro, but a full screen 9200 would be slick.

Hi There vnanong.....

Yes i too would appreciate TV Remote emulating the Marantz line of remotes. I am using "Tonto" to formulate my CCF and it would be great to be able to use the navigation cursor on the PDA (Axim). Seems a crying shame that the hard keys are on the device but the software (as yet) is unable to take advantage of them.

I have emailed PDAwin to ask about any future developments regarding Marantz CCF emulation but as yet I have not had a reply. Was only a couple of days ago though...but judging by comments in this forum I doubt whether I will get a reply......:-))

MAybe we should all gang together and blitz them with such requests.......would it have any effect....I doubt it.

Would be a great extension to the usefulness of the programme......an option to select device emulation dont you think. Stewart Allen has got it in his Tonto programme....so why not PDAwin......can it be so difficult......maybe Stewart could shed some light on the subject.......what are the differences in the file types? I know the various differences in actions etc......but how are these extras bolted on to the file structure??

Anyway.....if we all keep at PDAwin maybe they(him) will respond to our requests....who knows.

Regards,

Andrew

The PDAwin and ProntoPro are compatible.
So make a PRONTO PRO ccf (others than PRO, the hard button transfer won't work)

So:
1) you don't get the full screen (but there you can check Stewart Allens link)
2) IF you have a CCF for ProntoPro ALL HARD BUTTONS ARE AUTOMATICALLY transfered into the PDA as follows:
Vol+ = cursor up
Vol- = cursor down
Ch- = cursor left
Ch+ = cursor right
Mute = cursor center
the 4 low hard buttons also transfer perfectly to the 4 PDA buttons.
So at least the hard button problem is solved...

As for response from PDAwin I've been waiting since May, so don't get to optimistic.

Stewart.....I have looked at netremote but unfortunately i would prefer it to emit IR itself also. All my equipment is upstairs, with the exception of the TV. Therefore I need direct IR for the TV and I use a IR extender to transfer all the codes to the upstairs equipment.
In addition, the TCP/IP/Girder/Slinke set up requires the use of a (second) dedicated PC to control the equipment....and looks a trifle involved and complicated to my eyes....:-))

Buxe......thanks for that......but with the pronto pro CCF setup can the hard cursor keys be reassigned to something other than vol up/down and channel up/down??

I wish to use Dale Crawfords EasyTheatre modified for my own set up and it would be great to be able to use the hard key cursor rather than have all the pop-up cursor screens. If it cant be done then it cant be done......

Just thought that Marantz 9200 emulation in the software would be a cool addition to the programme....including the extra screen space...multiple jumps etc.

Andrew

Andrew,

I hope this is what you're asking. There are 2 ways to assign functions to hard buttons in Pronto Edit.

1) Double click on SYSTEM Properties, under home and select the hard buttons tab. Select the hard button to program, delete any existing command and then hit "alias". Then from the list, select the BUTTON in the ccf that contains the command you want. Buxe gave you how these keys map to the PDA in a post above. I.e. if you alias the Vol+ hard key to an Up command (for a channel guide) then it will be mapped to the UP key on the PDA's cursor. ALL HARD KEY ASSIGNMENTS MADE IN SYSTEM PROPERTIES ARE GLOBAL. They will work as assigned throughout the ccf.

2) The same procedure as above can be done is DEVICE Properties for any device. The difference is that any settings made here will over ride the global settings, but just for that device. I.e. if you want the cursor pad to do something different when you're in a DVD device, assign these commands using Device Properties.

Thanks Bomberjim.....
I knew there were two ways of doing the functions asigning....I mainly wanted to confirm whether the TV remote software would allow me to assign different functions to the hard cursor present on most PDA's or whether the functions were permanently mapped to vol up/down etc.

It seems from what you and others are saying that I can indeed map different functions within the software. When I think about it this should be the case since the software emulates a ProntoPro....but one can never be absolutely sure.....??

I didnt want to get carried away with modifying Dale's Easy Theatre for my own needs only to find that I could not use the hard cursor keys:-)

I expect I should go away now and have a play...thanks everyone for your help and assistance. Feel free to pass on any more of your experiences with this software.....!!

Andrew

Andrew,

Hope it helped. Realize that Dale's Easy Theater is one of the most complicated (a work of art really) ccf's in the files area. Modifying it (at least major mods) is very difficult/frustrating unless you're experienced with ccf creation and all the ins and outs of PE.

Jim.....
You are not kidding......very complicated indeed. No major modifications just some mods for my own equipment etc. By using the hard cursor keys I should be able to simplify it anyway due to not needing the pop-up cursor panels in seversal of the devices.

The CCF is amazing.....but understandable if you take a good look in Tonto/PE. To produce this from scratch though.....a work of art like you said. Could do with him producing further icons....:-))Have you looked at his word file which comes with the download.....makes it much more understandable.

Andrew

Andrew,

I've been using Dales programming ideas, and some of his graphics since his original Pronto ccf's (TS-1000) in 1999. Always been a big fan. I've read his text file, but I design my own ccfs from scratch, stealing whatever good ideas/graphics are out there. ;-) I'm not a PDA owner, just try to help out here whenever Pronto Edit is involved.
