Hi, I am planning to buy a H3950 or 3970. What I need to know is, can I use this to control X-10 equipment through an IR/X-10 converter? is it possible to download all X-10 codes, and where can I do this?
+, I see in the forum there are other options to Nevo, like WinPDA. are there others, and what is the best for home theater?think NEVO looks pretty cool.. thanks for all help.

Not 100% sure but think you should be able to control X10 via your 3950/70 and a converter. Nevo looks cool but the current version has limitations for controlling a home theater. A new version was supposed to be out 1st qtr 2003 but no sign of it yet. I use PDAWIN as I had already developed a working CCF file with my Philips Pronto. This works very well with only a couple of functions being affected by PDAWIN's repeated button press problem (search the forum for more info on this). V5.4 of PDAWIN works as well as NEVO for ir range with my system.

What range do you get with PDAwin & the Nevo hardware?

I sit pretty well in front of my hi-fi cabinet (so no real angle issues) but about 5.5m away. It seems to work up to about 6m max with both NEVO and PDAWIN.

So,
What's the way to go for a user who isn't worried about IR limitations, NEVO or PDAwin (which asthetically looks awful)? Also, what limitations were you noticing with NEVO and controlling a home theatre that PDAwin would be able to do.

wizardsh: NEVO is very limited in what it can do. PDAwin uses CCF files that are used by the Pronto remote. The Pronto has an editor that lets you create almost anything you want.
