PDAwin just posted version 5.4 of their TV Remote Controller software on their website. They have already put the following note up:

"note: For Dell Axim X5 new version of CF card is needed!"

I know this was mentioned the other day, but this makes it sound like the new CF card is already available for order. Although, I still don't see any mention of it on EDV's website. Anyone know?

PDAwin has jumped the gun.

EDV is not ready to ship the new version. They still have some testing to do. If the tests are OK, it will still take a bit of time to assemble the new versions in quantity.

Dave, does you new card have an advantges over the old ones? More IR 'oomph' wider coverage angle, etc?

I know that I would have been willing to pay an extra five or seven dollars for a card with a pair of high-power emitters.

As I said earlier, it uses the same IR emitter. The IR emitter is 940nm with a 40° angle and has range in excess (far in excess) of 60 feet. It's the most powerful and the most efficient (in terms of current draw) 940nm 3mm emitter I can find.

If anybody can recommend a better emitter, I'll look at it.

Dave: Is it possible to place pre-order to get Axim version of pda-ir as fast as possible? If possible, how I can do it. Just write to "Other notes or instructions:"- field that i need Axim version of pda-ir?
