I plan to purchase a 3850 to use as my remote. Is there any problems that I will encounter? I'm not looking for something so complicated, just striaghtforward controls.

No, you can't. You can get Nevo only built in in the 39xx series - and the 54xx of course.
I personally don't like it.

If the *only* (or primary) reason you're buying an iPaq is for a remote control, don't spend money on a new one.

Go to ebay and buy a used 3635 and a Cf sleeve for under $200-. Then go get PDAWin for $15 and the Electric Dog CF IR extender card for another $25-.

PTVBrowser makes a good 'companion' in an iPaq remote control.

Software info can be found on www.handango.com

Also look at netremote.org for something a bit more 'sophisticated' (and complex) that lets your iPaq talk to a home theater PC and components.
