Well it was a nice surprise to see that PDAWin has finally solved the iPaq H3900 series IR range issue (with the Electric Dog IR extender).
I have just installed the software & with the Electric Dog IR extender it works like a charm. I can bounce the signal from almost anywhere in my room!!!
Also I must state that it was good to see that there was a free upgrade from versions 4 & 5. NICE ONE!!!
After months of frustration I am now happy....

Hi,
what is a "Electric Dog IR extender" and where can I buy one?
Without this extender the IR range of the 3900 is really poor, do you agree?
Regards,
Kalle

It's actually called "PDA-ir". In the USA it's sold by Electric Dog Ventures. [Link: myelectricdog.com]Note that it requires PDAwin's TV Remote Control v5.2 software to work with the H39xx series iPAQ. (I'll try to get EDV & Laser to update their compatibility lists.) Note also that it requires a CF sleeve. I see you are in Germany. You can get it from Laser. [Link: laser.com]

Will that work with a 3850 too?

Hi,
excuse my maybe stupid question, but for what do I need a sleeve? Isn't it possible to put the CF card with the IR diode in the CF slot of my 3950???
Thanks,
Kalle
Uuuh, one more question: I saw that this CF card "only" has one IR diode, but all those "prof." IR remote devices (Pronto ...) - they all have two of them. Is one really enough?

I haven't seen the H3950. (I'm disabled and don't get out.) However, the specifications say it has a built-in SD/MMC memory slot. That's not the same as a CF (CompactFlash) slot.
The Pronto actually has 4 IR emitters. PDA-ir has more than 60 foot (>18m) range. The single emitter is high power.

the sleeve allows cf and pc cards [depending on your sleeve type] to be added to your ipaq. Im not aware of an IPAQ that will accept either a cf card or pc card without an expansion sleeve.
Im after a dual slot pc card sleeve. One for the 802.11 wi fi card and the other for a pc card 2 cf card adapter to hold the PDA-ir cf card.
Fun fun fun .....

You'll need a dual CF sleeve as PDA-ir will not work in a PC Card adapter. But, I suggest you check with PDAwin to make sure they are able distinguish between the slots.

Anyone else know what is new with version 5.2? I use 5.1 right now and am hoping that 5.2 will be able to handle my oversized CCF file a little better.
Also, anyone know how to upgrade from 5.1 to 5.2? Do I have to buy it again?

If you are registered, just download the shareware version and install it over the old one. You might want to make sure to safe the registration key number.
