Hey, what's da story with Compaq's IPaq? Who's seen da dang ting? Is it worth the 500 clams? Who sells it for less? Any info pro and con would be a good thing! Thanks! Cio...

There is lots of info on most of the CE sites about the IPAQ. I've had mine for nearly two months and love it. I like it better than the others because it can be used outdoors and is still very easy to read. If you are indoors primarily then one of the Casio units might be better for you as the colors are much better indoors than the IPAQ. The IPAQ is damn fast at 206 Mhz using the StrongArm processor.

I don't have mine yet, but have used it, and it is great. I ordered mine in August, and it still isn't in. Compaq says that they won't be caught up w/ production until December! You can't find it for less than $500, in fact, it's the exact opposite. You are lucky to find it for $500, or even at all...

They have an ipaq on display at the Circuit City here in Albany, NY.

It's pretty since it is in color but the noises it generates would drive me nuts

I DID find ONLY a display tester at Best Buys. I played around for a while but it seemed fairly complex. Does it get more user friendly with time :-)?
I did not hear the noises pepe talkj about. Can you expand on that? Also, I did not see an intuitive way to delete the audio files. Did I miss something basic? Thanks for some further pros and cons on it. PS, where is the best deal for it? Thanks. Ron

I got mine a few weeks ago. Yes, it gets user friendlier with time. I don't have any experience with any other, except I played with Palm V a bit. Battery life I think will be a problem. But if you can charge once every 8 hours it is really useful and replace a lot of papernotes and diary. I would like to delete unused and pre-installed software, but it does not seem to be possible. All preinstalled stay permanent. Data and audio files are easy to delete, just hold the pen on the file, and highlight the "Delete" in the pop-up menu. I don't hear any noice Pepe is talking about. The "click" for every touch and all the other sounds can be turned off.

I have 2 iPAQs and love them.

Got one at mobileplanet.com, and the other at amazon.com.

They are simply the best PDA's around ...

I bought one on ebay for WAY over retail (had to have it demo to cutomer) and it was still worth it.

It is THE PDA of choice for anyone who likes WinCE and MSFT. Highly Reccommended!
