I have a Compaq ipaq H3635 and was wondering will the remote extender work with my unit with 5.1 or do I need an earlier version of the software. Where can you download trials of the older software?

Please let us know if you get any kind of response from emailing Dusan/Pete at pdawin.com. I've found them to be very spotty to the point of being unresponsive to customer queries.
You'd think that a guy who may have made as much as a half-million dollars on his software (look at the download stats at handango.com and do the math yourself) would first of all be more diligent on answering his email and second of all be more willing to accept help on some identified software bugs that engineers at Compaq are willing to help with.
As you can tell I've about had it with the developer and his product.

Your 3635 should work well with the remote extender. I assume you are referring to the PDA-ir CF extender.
I have the same setup (iPaq 3635, TV Remote 5.1, and PDA-ir extender) and it works well for me.
By the way, I agree with westmetro re: PDAWin. I like the software and I use it every day, but it could use some further development. Unfortunately, the company that develops it is unresponsive, and if the look of their website is any indication, unprofessional. Just my opinion, of course.
Regards. Jay.

Does anyone know if the CF IR Extenders will work with other PPCs? I just got a Dell Axim and would love to use the Ir Extender. TIA-Carl

I don't think it will work with an Axim. I've never seen the Axim, will it even take a CF card? In any case, the hardware compatibility list on www.myelectricdog.com reads 'Compaq iPAQ 36xx, 37xx , 38xx only'. I don't believe that it even works with the 39xx series of iPaq. I think there are other IR extender solutions available that are less hardware specific, though. Maybe someone in the know can comment.

Xray - Dell Axim X5 300MHz Xscale with CF and SD, transflective screen, 32 MB RAM, 32 MB ROM (5MB of user storage space) with rebate $199. Cool stuff. You can check a Pocket PC forum dedicated to it here: [Link: dalecoffing.com]Does anyone know of an extender that will work with PPCs other than Ipaq? TIA-Carl

Does anyone know of an extender that will work with PPCs other than Ipaq? TIA-Carl Hi CarlSr. Just ordered an Axim X5 myself (the 400MHz version). I found this extender that is supposed to work with most PocketPCs (incl. the Dells): [Link: ultramote.com]They also make a software UltraMote which seems a little too basic (no CCF support). Check chart here: [Link: ultramote.com]Now it would be nice if it could work with TV Remote ! Let's keep in touch about this.

IaM - have you ordered the extender? I knew about that one, but assumed that it was software specific, and that the one for PDAWin's TV Remote was as well. Let me know what you find out. I am also working with NetRemote (free) as a bi-directional TCP/IP solution. It is in Beta now, and alittle buggy on the handling of CCFs, some IR challenges, and some problems with wait times in communicating with the server. It is really cool though. On screen (PPC) of a media jukebox integrated into your CCF with no line of site restrictions. Since my house is WiFi-ed (is that a word) and I already had a HTPC it makes good sense. Just hope the software gets smoothed out soon. Email me with results on the extender, if you don't mind. TIA-Carl @ [email protected]

I'm also looking into a Wi-Fi solution too. I will email you soon. Here's the response I just got from them: "We currently only offer the patent-pending UltraMote Extender® for use with UltraMote® software for a variety of technical and business reasons. Thanks, CardonWare Support" Understandable but still a shame... Hope they will reconsider... Nemo
