I am looking to get a iPaq 3835/45. Will I need to get an Ir-Extender? And if so what all will I need to do this? I see ppl saying something about a CF extender?

If you intend to use TV Remote Control software ( http://www.pdawin.com) you will probably need an extender. Without it range is only 12' or so depending on your specific AV gear. See http://www.myelectricdog.com for the PDA-ir extender that fits a CF slot and works with TV Remote Control software.
