The OmniRemote Springboard module contains its own version of the OmniRemote software which automatically loads when you insert the card. I doubt very much whether you will be able to access the hardware from other software.

Yes, they do but you will probably need to head up to our web page and install the new OmniRemote library, this version (1.34), will never expire. The new library is available for download on the advanced section of our web page located here:
