You can still find the iPAQ H3635 (including the CF sleeve) from about $275 (refurbished) to $399 (new). [Link: nextag.com]The best deal (new) I am currently aware of is at... [Link: store.yahoo.com]With TV Remote Control Software ( www.PDAwin.com) and PDA-ir ( www.myelectricdog.com), the H3635 makes a very nice remote. The cheapest color remote solution is a Handspring Visor Prism (refurbished from Frys for $169), with an Omniremote module $50 after discount coupon that comes with the Visor. The Omniremote module give great IR performance from the back of the remote. The current version of the Omniremote software allows you to program the 6 hard buttons on the remote, and create color buttons and backgrounds. Custom buttons are do-able, but more difficult.

I beg to differ. For at least the last couple of weeks it is possible to buy the hp Jornada 525 PDA for $150. This has got to be the cheapest color remote control on the market!

What software do you use with the Jornada? What IR range do you get?
