I've been hunting and hunting, but haven't seen any software that allows me to use the IR port on my Powerbook, OmniRemote-like. Has someone else seen this?
Considering it's something my Visor does.... and the completely unrelated but very amusingly useful Visor Hotsync over IR that i'm using now... it's tantalizingly close.
If it's not out there, i will be poking in this direction as soon as the OS X beta is on my powerbook. (Then think perl.... cron... http...)

Actually I have been searching for something similar but for a PC and haven't found a thing. The closest I got was using the Palm Pilot emulator and trying to send omniremote codes to the IR port. It doesn't seem to work by the way.
You may ask why someone would want to use a computer as a remote control...
This would be a great way to share those hard to find codes like Discrete on and off to anyone with a computer and IR port. The person could simply download a file with the codes and beam it to there programable remote.
For those of us without the super (expensive) touch screen remotes that already attach to the computer and can download codes.
