I have been looking at a lot of PDAs and I'm having a tough time deciding. I've read several posting about palmpilot vs. a lot of other PDAs and I'm not sure about palm yet. I have looked at the Sony PEG-T415 and the fact that it includes a remote AV Remote Control Feature seems promising, it would save me having to buy OmiRemote software and / or the IR module, but is the Sony software a good way to go?

I have seen a few posting stating that it can't learn from remotes, but other than that would it be a good choice?

Another runner up is the Visor Prism. I can get a refurbished one for $200. Is the Omiremote module a good av remote?

I own the T415. The included software is rather limited, in that it cannot learn. Omniremote is well worth the money, and the author is working very hard to get it working on the T-series. I have just downloaded the beta that allows Omniremote to access the hi-power IR port on the T415.

In my opinion, the Pronto is now largely obsolete.

Note that the beta software on the download page is only the first part of what you need. You also need the beta library that the author makes reference to on the message boards here:

It is very refreshing to see a Pronto owner with a open mind in regards to using a pda as a urc.
Do you also use OrDesktop?
The OrDesktop and the latest build on the Omniremote beta program blows ProntoEdit away.

Maybe because he's seen my posts over on the Pronto forum?

I haven't tried OrDesktop yet. I actually enjoy laying out the screens on my clie. I sit at my computer too much, anyway. Plus I can do the layout on the clie at night in bed before going to sleep.

You mentioned that you owned a Pronto in a post at the
The Pacific Neo-Tek Message board.
