Hi, we are developing a new application for Palm handheld devices combining remote control functionality with TV listings - something we dub as an 'intelligent remote control'. We will shortly be looking for alpha testers. If you are interested, please visit our web site www.tvcompass.com and take a look at the 'alpha' section.

TIA,
- John Roberts

Will this work with the new Sony Clié PEG-T415, which seems to be the one PDA that will have enough inherent IR strength to be a decent remote control?

We haven't tested it with the new Sony although if all they have done is boost the power of the IR transmitter then there is no reason it shouldn't work.

So far, we've found Handspring Visor models to have the greatest range. The Prism I have is certainly powerful enough for my home setup which has the TV quite a few metres away from the sofa. The screen glows in the dark too which is good when the lights are low...

The Sony has backlighting and, at least, the IR emitter is on the top. :-)

The app doesn't attempt to use the OmniRemote module ATM but we will probably look at that at some point.
