I have a Palm IIIc & OmniRemote ver. 1.171 I can not get OmniRemote to control any of my Panasonic devices I have the Panasonic Showstopper PV-HS2000 and a Panasonic DSS Receiver. OmniRemote will record the IR signal but will not control the Panasonic device.

I do not think it is a hardware issue, because I also use the PalmRemote software from Japan (down load at - [Link: hp.vector.co.jp]). And the PalmRemote software & my Palm IIIc will control my Panasonic Showstopper PV-HS2000 and Panasonic DSS Receiver.

Anyone else having problems controlling Panasonic devices with OmniRemote ......?

Does anyone know how to correct this problem.....?

Thanks for any help.......

There is a file at www.coolremotes.com for the Pansonic Showstopper PV-HS2000.
This file was made by Mike Lawrence who did alot of good work to get this file to work.
Here is the link to Mike's file.
[Link: coolremotes.com]

If you have any pdb.files for Omniremote that you would like to share with others you can E-mail them to [email protected] and I wil post the files at coolremotes.

Thanks... Dan

I have tried both of the xx.pdb for the Panasonic Showstopper from coolremotes.com ( "[Link: coolremotes.com]"

"http://www.coolremotes.com/pdb_files/ReplayTV.pdb" ) the ReplayTV.pdb will work on only 3 or 4 functions very spartanly only control the Panasonic 1 out of 7-12 times I press the button, and the PANA30HRREPL.pdb will not work at all (same as any buttons I train).

I have the original Panasonic remote and can train the Palm IIIc the codes for the Panasonic. I also have a Yamaha remote for my amp. that will learn remote codes I can train it and it will work perfect. I can train my Palm IIIc with the PalmRemote software from Japan and it will controle the Panasonic Showstopper ( so I do not think it is a hardware issue )

Any other ideas ...thanks

Here is the information that Mike sent with the file.

Dan,

Note that because the OmniRemote sampling rounds to every 5th cycle I had
convert the Pronto data and then to use ORDesktop to edit the freq on these
from 000011c10 (36.36kHz) to 000010f87 (34.75kHz) after paste in of Pronto
codes to get it to work. Apparently the ReplayTV is very picky about the
timing of the pulses. Learning the codes from the original remote does not
work, even with the freq changed.
So, edit the button layouts all you want, but don't delete the learned data.

Mike Lawrence

Hope this helps.

Dan, thanks for the information, unfortunately this does not correct my problem.

I have tried the ReplayTV.pdb with my Palm IIIc it will not control my Panasonic. I check the frequency the ReplayTV.pdb file seems to be the only one changed to the 000010f87 (34.75kHz) even when I use this corrected pdb file my IIIc will not work the Panasonic.

I do not understand why the PalmRemote software will correctly learned and retransmit the Panasonic IR signal on my IIIc, but OmniRemote can not.
** OmniRemote is a far superior remote software product this is why I hold out hope that it will be able to use my Palm IIIc to control my Panasonic.

Any more thoughts on this are greatly appreciate.

I have the same problem with the Panasonic! After getting ORDesktop and performing the mods suggested I can control my ReplayTV units perfectly with my IIIc. The Panasonic unit we have responds some times but something is obviously quite different between the units. I tried training from the Panasonic remote and it didn't help much, so I eventually gave up on it.

OmniRemote works just fine with the Panasonic VCR I have, so it's specfic to only some of the Panasonic products. I have not tried the 1.2 beta yet, perhaps things have improved some.
