New Palm m100........ 2 mb memory, but smaller screen... down from 2 3/8" square on lllx to slightly less than 2" square. Priced at $179. OS 3.5.1. IR strength is probably the same (I have nothing to base this on). But, made more rugged. Designed to be "break resistant" due in part to thicker plastic casing, and the LCD is backed by plexiglas and not regular glass, which is the prime cause of Palm repairs. And cool looks.
With OmniRemote, ORDesktop, and IR extender........ and all the extra "entertainment controller" uses, are we getting closer to the ideal Palm PDA remote? -Greg :-)

I'm just starting out, how do I get a copy of OmniRemote and ORDesktop?

I would agree that the m100 is much more durable and I really like it but in my opinion the smaller screen makes its use as a universal remote even more impractical than the already cramped IIIxe

You can not use it as RC. If you will read FAQ about omniremote. you will find it does not work with m100.
I do not understand 3Com. If the worse equipment is released, it should be cheaper. I think m100 and pV family is only signal that 3Com is alive.
New device was present in april; palm with processor StrongARM. Question is how long 3Com will create new operating system for it. Half year, one year, three years...?
My suggestion, dont but any new "3Com ideas" like m100. If you donot want wait on new palm buy IIIxe or better TrgPro.

You can use it as a RC, i am using one know.
I bought the M100 after dropping and breaking my IIIe
