Does anyone know if the Palm can be used for two way IR with a hifi component?
The idea of a list of discs that can be sorted, and clicked on to play is great.
But how do you create the list? It looks like you have to type them all in by hand!
If you have CDJ and a slinke then your computer can talk to the CD player and build up a database of disc details (using CDDB and user entry). This list can be turned into a template for a pronto. Nice - but you have to buy the slinke hardware (see
www.nirvis.com).
But - by using two-way IR the palm could ask a Sony CD changer directly what the discs are called. The sony two-way remote controls that come with some changers can do this (but only control the CD player), so a palm should be able to as well.
It could even ask for the track lengths are, work out an approximate CDDB ID, and then do a lookup (assuming internet access, possibly via a PC).
