I think the response to the PDA remote is great. I read and learned so much from Gregorious and Dan. You guys are real helpful.

I am new to this stuff - so please be patient with my questions:

First, I have a Visor. I successfully tested all of my equipment "power on" with the trial version of the OmniRemote software - I wanted to be sure before I purchased anything.

I also learned the Lutron codes for my new dimmer switch - it also worked, but the range was bad.

My questions:

First, where do I buy an "ir booster" to improve the range of my visor remote? - my wall switch is about 15 feet from where I normally sit.

Second, can any of the physical buttons on the Visor be "re-moded" to do standard functions like "on/off" and volume control?

Third, I am not sure that I will like a fully touch screen remote. I think I will want some keys that are physically available like the volume and channel changing - what is your experience? Do you get used to it?

Question #1

www.smarthome.com sells an IR to RF module that attaches to your Palm/Handspring/remote and transmits to a base station which, in turn, sends the IR signals to your components. I have one and it works well.

Question #2

Yes, I have the up/down scroll buttons set to control the master volume on my reciever. Another of the hard buttons is mute. You can map all of them to any button that you can program.

Question #3

You get used to it, kinda. That's one of the major things that I think the Pronto has a distinct advantage in. It's "set-up" like a remote control.

Hope this helps
Dan
