I have been using PDAWin’s TV remote for about 18 months now and have been fairly happy with the software (I used to use a Pronto TS1000). I had the usual complaints about repeat presses on the soft key buttons and the configuration of the hard keys on my Dell Axim X3 not being too clever. I have tried out Total Remote but found this to be a complete pile of turd. I had given up looking for software and resigned myself to the fact that the software from PDAWin is as good as it is going to get. That was until I came across Netremote IR from promixis (www.promixis.com). This software is was better than any of the rest and since installing it on my Axim I have stopped wanting a colour pronto. It uses the ccf files we are all used to creating but even better than that if you use Tonto to create your ccf you can use a custom template without the standard pronto device and macro buttons at the top. This means you can fill the entire screen area of your pda with your own ccf layout. Start a new ccf project in Tonto using the new-custom ccf command and choose 320*240 as the size.
I am telling you this software is great. Repeat button presses work flawlessly and you map the hard buttons yourself. You can download a trial version from their website. I recommend you all do so asap.

Hi Sandman77. I have tried various software and I am trying the net remote trial at the moment. It seems great. Just one question, what is the DELL infra red power like as I am thinking of buying one of the x50 or X51 devices?

Cheers

I am trying out NetRemote as well, with a brand new Axim 51v.

It holds a lot of promise and it seems the best (or the only one) that fulfills my requirements: both IR (for regular a/v equipment, and wi-fi (for MCE HTPC).

I am having hell of a time trying to get it to work with Dish 942 HD DVR: some of the buttons (like channel selection and channel #s) keep running and running (so it would scroll through 50 or so channels before it stops). It is basically unusable to change channels right now.

I am waiting for their tech support to make some suggestions.

With NoviiRemote Deluxe the range for Dell x51v is over 20 feet. And you can ask for the infra red code for your DVR on novii's forum. They always send missimg codes.

Hello

Do you know if it offers support compact flash IR card? I am currently using an Axim X5, PDAWin and in IR compact Flash card (to extend the standard range). Loike you I'm pretty happy with the software, except for the repeat buttons which tend to crash the system...

Also how do you use the wifi stuff? Is it to control the PC, or directly the devices (through an wifi IR converter that I have not found yet!)?

Thanks

Frenchaxim

I just bought the Harmony 880 remote as I could not find any other software that would work with my Axim X50v upgraded to wince 5. I will give this a shot and if all works well, I will return the Harmony 880 and save!

Thanks for the info.

Garrett
