Thanks TK..but it didnt answer my question..i cant seem to find one that works with the x50v..not flawlessy anyway..im thinking these are more gimmicky than useful.. bottom line..you cant make a PDA into a really great universal remote..IMHO..guess i have to buy a PRONTO

if you read this very competent posting you may find the answer to your question.
It's true, an Pocket PC can't be as good as a dedicated remote control. But this may cost $19- 29 instead of $1000 ;)

T-K..didnt mean i didnt find that post helpfull..it was well written..but even though he does lean toward one or the other i still think they are more of a toy than anything..i did download the 3 day version of total remote..cant get it to work..and when i tried to uninstall it i cant..its on my sd card so i dont care much but from what i did see i wasnt impressed..Rich G

Don't know if it supports your (Axim?) x50v, but I am a satisfied user of PDAWIN.com's TV Remote Controller 5 on an iPAQ 3900. Check out their web site and see if it supports your PDA. It only cost US$15, and is well worth it, despite the lack of product support. I tried out a least a half dozen PDA remote control emulators before picking it. Two of my main reasons for choosing it were:
1. It uses full CCF files (not just the codes) and provides a pretty close approximation of a real Pronto (at least on the screen).
2. It supports an IR extender. Even though the iPAQ 3900 has a CIR interface, I found the range to be marginal without an extender.
YMMV.
