I have encountered a learning problem and I think that
the timing is a problem. Let me explain.

I have a DCT2224 cable box. I have intermittent
results learning the code. How do I know this?
Because the button doesn't work when I press it. In
other words, it doesn't perform the function it is
supposed to on the cable box.

I have obtained the correct code from remotecentral.
I will use the Guide button in this example. It is in
the G.I. cable format if I am not mistaken.

The correct code for the guide button is this:

0000 006B 0014 0000 0159 00AA 0014 0055 000F 0055 0014
0055 0014 0055 0014 00AA 0014 00AA 000F 0055 0014 0055
000F 0055 0014 0055 000F 0055 0014 0055 000F 00AA 0014
0055 0014 00AA 0014 00AA 000F 04A6 0159 0055 0014 0000

An example of an incorrect learned code is as follows:

0000 006B 0014 0000 015E 00AA 0019 0050 0019 0050 0019
0050 0019 0050 0019 00A5 0019 00A5 0019 0050 0019 0050
0019 0050 0019 0050 0019 0050 0019 0050 0019 00A5 0019
0050 0019 00AA 0014 00AA 0019 04A1 015E 0050 0019 0000

The incorrect learned code seems to be incorrect
enough for it not to work. They are both on the same
frequency of 38.740 Khz. They both have a length of
20 burst pairs.

You might also notice that the incorrect code is just
slighty different in what is defined as a 0 or 1. It
really jumps out at you. What should be 20 in decimal
is 25. What should be 85 in decimal is 80. Is this a
common problem in a bad learn? If so, what is this a
symptom of?

I might also mention that this behavior is occuring
with the Omniremote software with a Tungsten T3.

I did manage to fix the problem I was having. If you look closely at the hex code, it is obvious that the On times are too long and the Off times are too short. I guess the DCT-2224 is very sensitive to correct timing. It would also appear that the learning was done too closely to the learning remote, but I can't be sure.
