Hi, have been lurking around and You folks seem to have your act together and don't flame the newbies. 1. I wan't to access my MP3's on Creative Media Source by remote. 2. I am drawn to the remote shipping w/ Audigy 2 products due to being able to view the info on a screen on the remote. 3. The Creative and ATI are both RF and have a limited range. 4. I would like to increase this range to a legitimate 100 ft.. Is there a repeater or extender for RF I could buy ? If not what would you recomend for an IR remote and IR setup, software for the computer ? ( I would have no problem extending / repeating an IR hardwired system ) Any advice would be GREAT ! Thanks, kdcon

Hi Kdcon,

Don't know about RF repeaters (hopefully others will have info for you there), but here are a couple of other thoughts.

There are good RF repeaters that take IR input rather than RF. Do your remotes also do IR? If they do, perhaps you could just treat them as IR remotes and do IR<>RF repeater/converter.

I use the RS 2117 (now discontinued), avail. here for a limited time from Rob Crowe (great seller, btw) for $30 + shipping. I control a device in a closet on the first floor at one end of the house, from the attic (third floor) at the other end of the house, works great (if you want to consider a different remote). I have 5 or 6 of these, one for every floor of the house, and one or two spares.

Cordially,

Eric

Eric, Thanks for the fast reply. As far as I can determine from the spec sheets the Creative and ATI are RF only. Wish they were IR . I have run hardwired IR exttenders all over the house and outdoors. All my A/V components are in a closed cabinet. The hardwire IR has worked great for me. I am hoping there is an IR/ computer interface out there that will work for me, if I can't get better range from RF. Thanks Again, kdcon

I too am looking for an RF range extender. My application is for a boat that has several Direct TV RF receivers that are too far away from the the forward stateroom. Any ideas?
