Not sure what I'm looking for is called (or even if it exists). I want to build a media server for my home that will stream multiple audio and video streams to different rooms in the house... I need streaming devices in each room to decode the audio/video. I would like one remote for all the different devices I use (HDTV capability in the bathroom is overkill at this point!). Each of the streaming devices i've seen communicate with the server to select the media through either a TV or a device display. I would like to use a universal remote to control everthing with a common interface that controls the basics (volume, etc) and navigation of media source/selection. I would assume this could be done with a wifi capable PDA-based universal remote. I think I'm looking for something like the niveus pda remote, but I don;t think that controls the streaming devices... just the HTPC (their website shows a HTPC in each zone... ouch!). Even if the Niveus remote did do this, it is tied to Windows MCE 2005 (a product that cannot be bought except through a system provider... no DIYers need apply). Any Ideas?

ok, so i was wrong... MCE 2005 CAN be bought OEM for a little over $100... there is just no current upgrade path available from any other OS, or even MCE2004... officially, only through manufacturers due to harware restrictions. so MCE devices are an option, but I don't think you can control multiple zones with one HTPC and MCE without streaming devices that have their own interface solutions. can you???
