Could anyone suggest a PVR/DVR solution for recording/pausing OTA HD? I originally had my OTA connection running through my Bell 9242 PVR, but since I cancelled my Bell TV subscription, the PVR is nothing more than a paperweight (ie. OTA is disabled without a live connection to the satellite).

So, I'm looking for something to replace the 9242. I know I could build a HTPC, but all I need is simple recording/pausing of TV and hoping there's a simple solution I can purchase without breaking the bank.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,
k.

Not familiar with the Bell 9242, though most STBs are made by a small group of manufacturers(Motorola,Zenith,RCAetc)
So you're ditching pay-for TV, in which case you'll need an antenna and an ATSC tuner, I take it that the 9242 lacks one? Are there PCI slots to add one? If so, then you can use the HDD in it and remote, like I said,I'm not familiar with what you have there.

Its' an international forum but members in both Canada and the USA.
I only have an antenna for now and use the MDP-130 but there are myriad sub-forums there.
I too though am looking for a CDN-specific forum as well.

K, Interesting. I have also cancelled my subscription with Bell, but I continue to use both my 9200 and my 6141 for ota pvr's, just leave the dish connected and scan for OTA, It should allow you to tape only real issue is no Guide info, and everything is manual timers...
