I really like the layout and usability of the Microsoft MCE remote and would like to keep it, but I'd like to turn both my projector and receiver on and off when I press the TV power button. I know it does not support macros, but are there any gizmos out there that I could set up to emit the on/of IR for the receiver when it sees the IR code for the projector on/off?

The MCE remote can be used in conjunction with your PC to do a whole bunch of things including the sednign of IR Commands at the response of a key press although it is not a universal device and so your success may be hit and miss.
