Some questions for the HTPC fans:
I have an HTPC running front end software. It a few rooms away from my home theater (100 ft). While I can control everything from a laptop in the theater room, I need have HTPC control my IR devices in theater room. From what I have been reading, I think my only choices are
1) Global cache 2) USB-UIRT... Do they make a 100 ft USB cable extension?
(please correct if wrong)
Here is my second problem: I have a second viewing room that I need a remote to access the PC for SIMPLE tasks... i.e. pause/track skip/volume up-down,etc on Zomplayer/Windows Media player, etc playing on HTPC. What RF remote (on the cheap) could accomplish this? I am familiar with an app called Girder. Or could this be accomplished with some kind of IR remote and sensing eye, wired back to the HTPC?
Any advice/experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

I can answer your second question. Leapfrog IR RF transmitters work great, and they are cheaper than a RF remote. One pyramid is in your viewing room...the other in your computer room. URC and Oneforall make remotes with RF, ONEFORALL being the cheaper.
