My requirements are this...

Control PC by RF
Work with software like Girder so I can run mediaplayer and other media applications
DVD 6.1 Receiver
HDTV
Cable HDTV DVR Box
Kenwood Surround Sound System
Learning Remote

I prefer this to be with regular buttons I don't really like the touch screens remotes. So I'm looking for a remote that has RF for PC and IR for other devices.

What are my least expensive remote options for accomplishing this? I tried to find a Niveus remote but they don't even make them anymore and I ATI doesn't have learning capability.

No response as of yet? What options do I have? Is it possible for less than a say a Harmony 890 to use an IR Learning remote with RF to control PC somehow? I'm just looking at my options now and do need some help here. I see it's possible to do with just IR only with a USB-UIRT for around $50 with Girder but is their other options to do the same with RF? If not what options do I have for a learning remote or good universal remote to accomplish the same thing?

You may look into WinLIRC (http://winlirc.sourceforge.net/), the Windows port of the linux open-source LIRC package. With an IR xmitter(s) and receiver connected to your serial ports, you can use ANY remote (or even an IR keyboard) to send commands to LIRC, which will then perform your PC commands or send learned IR signals to your other equipment.

You can get equipment that is perfect for the job cheaply here:

good luck!
