i have been reading the threads here but cant seem to find my answer. i have gone into my PC settings and it seems the best i can do is to have the PC hibernate when i press sleep on the keyboard(thinking it will come out of hibernation also when sleep is pressed). i was hoping i could then learn "sleep" from my keyboard to my universal(Nevo SL). well neither the wireless keyboard i use nor the wireless keyboard that came with my HP HTPC have a sleep button.

any suggestions?

thanks, Christian

The cheapest (albeit maybe not the easiest) way using your remote would be to hold the remote in your hand and walk over to the PC and depress the PC power on button with the other end of the remote:). I suppose then the easiest way would be to get someone else to do it. THe only I could make this work on my setup was to buy the X10 IR543 and a power module ( I also got a dimmable lighting module). My universal remote -Logittech 880 had codes already for this module. The only caveat is that your PC's BIOS has to have an option to allow startup on power restore. Plug the PC into the power module press the button on the remote and the PC dutifully starts up. The other catch is that you have to power down the module when you are finished using the PC as the PC won't start up again unless the power is actually disconnected first. Works for me though I'm sure it is not the only way.

the bios of my pc has a "power on by mouse click option" i presume that if you could get a remote that could do a mouse click then you could turn on your pc

BIOS ( sort of the nuts and bolts settings) settings are adjusted just as the PC is starting up. Typically you press F12 or ESC to get into the menu for settings here. Warning - adjustments here can wreak havoc. [Link: en.wikipedia.org] for detailed explanation of BIOS

More or less. There is usually a section to do with ACPI which is where these power on and/or wake on settings are.

Nothing like AC recovery? How old is your PC? Can you determine who the BIOS supplier is - it'll be something like Award or AMI?

i've been looking for a product for awhile for turning my htpc on/off. this looks almost perfect but i haven't asked their help dept. if it actually turns the pc on and off. it looks like it does because it has an ATX PSU Cable Adapter to interrupt power.

Note in the Detailed Specifications for IR Module.... "Switch PC on from off state"
