Inside 50 Cent's Automated Office: 'Puffy Don't Got That'By Jason Knott
Hip-hop artist 50 Cent is wowed by Control4 system in his Manhattan offices.Audio Video Invasion in Plainview, N.Y. has completed a high-profile installation of hip-hop artist/producer 50 Cent’s G-Unit record label headquarters in Manhattan.
In a video documenting the installation, 50 Cent (aka Curtis Jackson) calls the office his “home away from home,” mentioning how much he now enjoys listening to music at the office vs. in the studio because “it sounds so good.” He also says he plans to blast the volume on the system so he can “shake the windows.”
The video begins with some background on 50 Cent's successful career, then jumps into the installation (starts at 0:46). AVI is seen installing a huge flat panel, Blu-ray player, thermostat control, motorized shade control and in-ceiling surround-sound speakers as 50 Cent looks on.
All the equipment runs on a Control4 platform, and AVI co-owner Panos Anassis and senior programmer Dustin Traina are seen explaining the control functions using an iPad. 50 Cent initially looks intimidated by the iPad, wondering if his fumbling with the interface is being caught on camera.
In the end, clearly wowed by the system, he proudly says, “Puffy don’t got that” (in reference to rapper Sean “Puffy” Combs.)
