Evolution of the iPod
By Steve Crowe
We take a look the different iPods from Apple.

The world forever changed when Apple first introduced the iPod on Oct. 23, 2001.

The tiny, white gadget had a 5 GB hard drive, 160×128 pixel LCD screen, and put “1,000 songs in your pocket” for $399. The innovative design was light years ahead of its time, and the iPod has continued to evolve since.

Apple launched its first iPod on October 2001. The mechanical scroll wheel of the music device moved with your finger, weighed about 6.5 ounces and its innovative design was light years ahead of its time. The battery lasted for about 10 hours, had a 5GB hard drive, and was sold for $399.

2nd Generation iPod
In July 2002, without any major modifications to its predecessor, Apple released the second-generation iPod. It had a 20GB hard drives, touch-sensitive wheel, a cover for the FireWire port and a redesigned Hold switch.
