Theater Loaded with Fiber-Optic Lighting
By Arlen Schweiger
This theater has lights galore, and a powerful sound system featuring Paradigm and Anthem gear.

Don’t underestimate the impact of lighting in your home theater. Just because it’ll be a darkened room when the movie starts doesn’t mean all the lights have to be turned off, and don’t forget that there’s more than just sconce lighting out there.

This theater room, outfitted by Springfield, N.J.-based 6th Avenue Electronics, shows that you can go a little wild with lighting, depending on your tastes.

In here, fiber-optics were a favored design element, with a ceiling panel and side wall panels decked out in the starfield look. But there are also can ceiling lights, sconces, pin lights and even cup holder lights that are all controllable within the HAI lighting system.

The lighting isn’t the only thing that gets shown off in this theater. Unlike some rooms, the front speakers and subwoofers are out in the open for everyone to see and hear—and why not? They’re part of Paradigm’s flagship Signature Series (and driven by processing and amplification from sister company Anthem).

Video features a combination of Marantz projector and Stewart Filmscreen screen, with an LG networked Blu-ray player allowing for high-def Blu-ray discs as well as streamed viewing of YouTube and Netflix videos.

“The homeowners wanted a space that they could easily come into, watch television or throw in a movie,” says 6th Avenue’s Netzer Martinez. “With ease of use at the top of their wish-list, they wanted a space where anyone in the family could go to and entertain, whether it be a using a gaming system, showing a YouTube video or an online Netflix experience.”
