24 Great Looking RacksBy Steve Crowe
A look back at the winners of the Show us Your Racks Contest! 2009CE Pro once again wants to show off the best racks in the fourth annual Great Looking Racks contest.
We want to feature the best A/V racks you've ever built in the November issue of CE Pro. But while the back of the rack always gets the most attention for great wiring, we want to see what you've done to the front.
Maybe they’re tricked out. Maybe they solve unique installation challenges. Maybe they use neon lights or feature a monitor. We want to show off your work!
In the meantime, we thought we'd revisit last year's contest as a challenge to you to blow last year's contest out of the water.
Glow in the Dark Anamorphic TheaterThese racks flank the entrance to a full anamorphic curved screen theater that has button leather doors, tiered seating and a fiber optic ceiling. The rack placement makes for a very cool theatre entrance.
Safe at SeaFully-pull-out racks are installed in custom made cabinet. Cabinet has its own AC Compressor pushing in cold air through a venturi guide underneath the
center of each rack. Racks have custom securing at top to hold them safe at sea. From the front of the Crestron panel you can select which ocean region you are in and all the satellite receivers switch over seamlessly to the new region without changing any wiring or removing receivers.
