What technologies will grace the electronic house in 2010 and beyond?

The answer may lie in the recent i-stage awards presented by the Consumer Electronics Association, which honored more than a dozen early-stage developers for their technological innovations.

The i-stage 2009 winners and finalists, many of which will be featured at the Consumer Electronics Show 2010 in January, portend the near future of consumer technology.



Last year's i-stage winner was Boxee, the content aggregator that gained a strong following in 2010.

Here are 11 Innovative Products from CEA i-stage.

Personal Solar Power (Winner)
Combine a small solar panel with a variety of device modules, and you have the ReNu personal power generation and storage system from Regen. Place the ReNu panel in direct sunlight to capture and store solar energy. Then drop it into any number of attachments for charging phones, iPods, USB devices and other personal electronics.

EnTourage Systems eDGe Ultimate E-reader

Netbooks and e-readers are expected to be the bright spots in the consumer electronics industry this holiday and over the next few years. But why choose between the two? EnTourage calls its eDGe product the “world’s first dualbook,” combining the functions of an e-reader, netbook, notepad, and audio/video recorder/player in a small device that uses the Google Android operating system.
