The answer may lie in the recent i-stage awards presented by the Consumer Electronics Association, which honored more than a dozen early-stage developers for their technological innovations.
The i-stage 2009 winners and finalists, many of which will be featured at the Consumer Electronics Show 2010 in January, portend the near future of consumer technology.
Last year's i-stage winner was Boxee, the content aggregator that gained a strong following in 2010.
