Best Blu-ray Players and Movies of 2009
By CE Pro Editors
We round up the best Blu-ray players and Blu-ray movies of the year.

The Blu-ray/HD DVD format war came to an end in 2008. And 2009 was the year prices of Blu-ray players came way down.

We also saw an infusion of streaming services added to Blu-ray players, including Netflix, YouTube, Amazon On Demand and more.

But what good is a Blu-ray player without something to watch? Well, that problem also has started to be resolved as countless classics were finally released in high-definition in 2009.

Here are our picks for the best Blu-ray players and Blu-ray movies of 2009.

Sony BDP-N460 Blu-ray Player
The Profile 2.0 BDP-N460 Networked Blu-ray Player features Netflix streaming and access to YouTube and to Bravia Internet Video. The BDP-N460 doesn’t feature Wi-Fi, but it comes with built-in software for a $95 Linksys Wi-Fi dongle.

Oppo Digital BDP-83
Oppo Digital’s sweet BDP-83 Blu-ray player is a fully-baked product that includes support for multichannel music formats SACD and DVD-Audio and include 7.1-channel analog outputs. It decodes Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio and includes dedicated stereo analog outputs.

This forum can supply really great information, but the several Blu-ray player blurbs that I read said nothing at all about whether they have discrete commands.

The Oppo has discrete On, Off, and even a power toggle on the remote! The Blu-rays I've dealt with are too dumb to close the drawer when you hit play -- that would be a nice thing to know about. And how long does it take between turning it on and being able to use it?

Those are major factors in my choice of Blu-ray, and the Oppo does all three. Why wouldn't a reviewer FOR THIS SITE mention these things?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
