I have a question. I was just on URC's Control Room site and I dont see the stand alone 880 editor. I can't remember if they had one a while back or if was always a part of the CCP.

I am pretty sure they are removing support for the standalones, but I could be wrong. I doubt it's an oversight. Send an email to customer service there - they should be able to shed some light.

CCP is the way to go going forward. You can integrate a bunch of rmeotes with multiple processors that right way using CCP.

Yes there is/was a stand alone editor for the 880, it is seperate to CCP.

You're the man Compass...... I think I have this all figured out already......

Edit - Yep, I can insert all my own images in either CCP or the stand alone 880 editor and use the theme select to change the backgrounds to whatever I place in the various folders. I can also have all my own icons in the library to replace the ones when creating devices and put all 750+ favorite channel icons in there separated by the defualt cetagory folders and you can drag / drop them into the project just like the URC included graphics......

I also figured out how to get the buttons on the device pages to have any button / overlay combo I want.

Theres a lot more to this, I discovered something really cool with the 5000 and 6000 as well, I have to play around a little more with those two resolutions in CCP. I've been going about trying to make easily customizable templates for those two remotes completely the wrong way. I think I can make everything drag and drop from the theme libraries except the background images.

I build my templates for URC by making a device layout for every device possible in one ccp file. Then all the CI has to do is import the device, add the codes, and make the Watch and Listen pages. Seems to work pretty well, although if you have a way to incorporate it into the "URC Template Style", thats great. Good Job!

Hey GW,

Any update as to how you are getting the images to show up in the 880 CCP?

:)

Hi Compass,

I had to put that on the back burner for a bit, and I do have a cool solution to customize that remote (the 880, 5000, and 6000) just by dragging a folder into the CCP or stand alone folder that sits in your C:/Program Files. I'll keep you posted. It's just a matter of running all the icons through a script to resize them along with all 750+ favorite channel icons and making sure it works.

Update: I spent a couple hours making a set of channel icons and all the activities are sized to fit as well. I will type up a set of simple instructions on what to do (its very simple) and it should be ready tonight. The last thing I am going to do is make new top and bottom headers to replace the stock ones.

Ill post a new thread here as soon as it's ready and a link on my website to download the zip file.

Just a quick update to the 880 editor. The CCP handles the new graphics a bit differently than the stand alone editor does. I have it working flawless on one and the CCP will require you to replace one of the existing folders in the themes library with a the new one, but it has to have the same folder name in order for the program to recognize it and show the graphics in the theme library.

So, what will hapen is you will have to make a copy of of one of theme folders buried in the CCP, "Alpha" for instance and name it Alpha2 or whatever you like, then drag the new folder called Alpha with my icons in it for them to show up in the theme library. I replaced the backgrounds, top and bottom bar, and the default button in both states to show the new ones.

Now, when you select Alpha as your theme, you will see all of the new activity icons in the theme library that can be used on the watch and listen pages.

On the stand alone editor, you could name the folder whatever you wanted and simply add it to the themes folder. I named it BSD Fusion and it showed up with all the other themes and was selectable from the themes list. In CCP, the new folder would appear in the themes list, but still showed all the default icons that come pre made with CCP. I realize nobody is probably using the stand alone version anymore, so the instructions will be for the CCP.

The favorite channel icons work differently, you can simply drag additional folders in that particular library and they show up in the list when selecting favorite channel icons. The will be called BSD Blank Icon, BSD TV Icons, and BSD Satellite Radio.

I'm getting an MX-880 with the editor software on Saturday....

What is this CCP I've also seen mentioned ?

Is that another program that I need ?

Will I get that included with the MX editor program ?

If not, how can I get it ?

Thanks
Shelly

CCP is all of URC's software editors solled into to one program. It is a bit different than the stand alone editors and takes a little getting used to but it works great.
